Managing Guest Access

Managing Guest Access

Overview

This document explains how to grant access to external users to the SoftwareCentral Tenant Manager platform. For MSPs, this is useful when customers require access to their tenant to perform actions such as viewing reports.

Prerequisites

  • Administrative access to the Tenant Manager portal.

  • The user must be created as a guest user in the MSP tenant.

How to Access Tenant Manager Settings

  1. Locate the Menu: Look at the navigation sidebar on the far-left side of your screen. Click on the three bars under the SoftwareCentral logo.

  1. Navigate to Settings: Select the Settings option.

Result: The Settings dashboard will open, displaying settings related to the specific Tenant Manager instance.

  1. How to Grant Guest Access to Tenant Manager

In this section we will cover how to provide access to Tenant Manager for guests. Before proceeding with this step, make sure the specific user is invited as a guest in the MSP tenant.

  1. Locate the Guest Login: On top of the page in the settings section, we will see guest login and the corresponding link. Copy the link and provide it to the user.

  1. First Login: If the user hasn’t been assigned a role before the first sign-in, the Tenant Manager dashboard will be blank, and the user will have no access.

  1. Assign Guest User Access to a Specific Tenant

Now that the guest user has access to Tenant Manager, we will need to provide access to the specific tenant, without giving access to all our tenants.

  1. Navigate to the TenantFrom the Tenant Manager dashboard, click on the tenant you wish to provide access to. In my case, I will give access to the Privatelab” tenant.

  1. Configure Tenant Settings: Inside of the tenant dashboard, we navigate to tenant settings as shown below.

  1. Assign Role to the Guest User: In the Tenant Settings we have RBAC available for the “Privatelab” tenant only. Assign the correct role and lastly click assign.

  1. Verify the AssignmentAfter the role has been assigned, you can verify that the role has been assigned correctly at the bottom of the page.

  1. Verify Access: Ask the user to refresh Tenant Manager, and the user should now be able to see the specific tenant from the dashboard.
